Riley Hickman scores 10th place finish in SAS finale at Smoky Mountain
Friday night saw Riley Hickman return to action at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) pulling double duty in the Super and Crate Late Model ranks for the King of the Mountain Championship. In a field of 34 Southern All Star Series entries, Hickman edged his way into the opening night feature with a third place finish in his heat. With $3,000 on the line, Riley was an early retiree from the 30-lapper on lap 17.
For the American Crate All-Star Series sanctioned contest, Riley logged a 10th place finish in his heat race, sending him into the B-Main for another shot at the $2,000-to-win A-Main. Transferring the Top 2 into the show, Hickman fell short with a 13th place outing.
On Saturday night, Riley secured his spot into the $7,000-to-win Southern All Star Series finale with the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race. Breaking into the Top-10, Hickman charged forward five spots in the 50-lap affair to place 10th.
