February 18th, 2017 - Hickman Visits Screven for Winter Free VII

On Friday night Riley Hickman made the trip to Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series season-opener. Competing in two separate divisions for the two-day Winter Freeze VII, Hickman improved five positions in his Super Late Model heat but came short of a transfer spot with a 6th place finish. Taking the Top 3 out of the B-Main, Riley fell one spot short with a 4th place outing. In a field off 24 Crate Late Models, Hickman advanced nine spots in the main event scoring a 2nd place finish.

Returning on Saturday to a field of 46 Super Late Models, Riley registered a 7th place finish in his heat giving him final shot at the $10,000-to-win finale with a B-Main appearance. Needing to place in the Top 3 to make the show, Riley logged a 5th place spot bringing an early end to his night in the Super Late Model division. In the Crate Late Model division, Hickman earned the pole position for the A-Main after laying down the fastest time overall in qualifying. Going for a wild ride in the opening laps, Riley's night was over after flipping violently, but was able to walk away from the scary incident unharmed. (Glen Starek photo)
